A Tiny Teacher
Amelie Andrews, 8, is a very fast learner. She started taking tae kwon do classes when she was 6 and already has a black belt. Amelie is so skilled that she also teaches classes at Nampa ATA Martial Arts, in her hometown of Nampa, Idaho.
When Amelie was a baby, she was diagnosed with spina bifida (spy-na bih-fih-da). The condition affects the spinal column. Kids with spina bifida sometimes have difficulty walking. But by the time Amelie was nearly 2 years old, she was standing. By 4, she was walking with braces. Now she doesn’t let health problems hold her back.
