Boy with no arms can swim – level 2
14-year-old Abbas Karimi was born without arms but that hasn’t stopped his ambition to win a gold medal for swimming in the next Paralympics. If he gets the support he needs, he’ll be the first Afghan to represent his country as a swimmer. He wants to be a symbol for those who are disabled like him.
Long conflicts and a bad situation in Afghanistan aren’t good for disabled Afghans who want to play sports. But Abbas can be successful. He has a new hope in his life. The next Paralympics takes place in Brazil in 2016.
Interesting words: disabled (somebody who is disabled cannot use some parts of their body), take place (be).
