Young dog can walk again – level 3

Young dog can walk again – level 3

Twelve-week old Juliette, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy. You wouldn’t think anything was wrong, full of energy and eager to say hello but she has had a tough start to life.

Juliette was found wandering the streets as a stray, suffering from what is called knuckling. Her tendons were contracted, which meant her front legs bent inwards. Getting around was not easy.

Wonky, as she was previously called, arrived at the Dogs Trust in Leeds, put on a steady diet, regular physio and care from staff. She is now on the straight and narrow. Juliette has been inundated with get-well messages from as far afield as Australia. And it looks like there won’t be problems with finding a new home. The Trust is sifting through 600 offers to take her in.

Interesting words: eager (wanting very much), wander (walk without a particular direction), stray (animal with no home), knuckling (having deformed legs), tendon (part of a body that connect a muscle to a bone), physio (physiotherapy), the straight and narrow (the good way), inundate (send many messages), far afield (far away), sift through (examine information).
