Child and a piano - level 3

Child and a piano - level 3

Ladies and gentlemen on piano, it’s Elton. No, not Elton John… Curtis Elton! An amazing pianist, a snappy dresser, and he’s just nine!

“I first started playing when I was three and a half years old and when I was three and a half, I listened to my mother’s music and I just liked it. So now … So now I just like music a lot.”

The north London schoolboy is the youngest person in the world to pass a university-level piano diploma. And he’s not just got to be able to play well.

“I had to write just under 700 words about each piece and also the composers, and then I needed to play in front of an examiner. I played Bach Prelude and Fugue in D Minor, Mozart Sonata in D Major and also Schubert Impromptu… Schubert Impromptu in G Flat Major.”

Apparently easier to play than say for Curtis and just like the other Elton, he’s put together an album. ”Daydreams” is set for release in November, just him and his mum. One in the eye for Simon Cowell--“Britain’s Got Talent” failing to spot Curtis's potential when he auditioned for the show two years ago.

Difficult words: snappy (fashionable), diploma (paper which you get after university), examiner (person that tests you), audition (give a short performance which tests skills).
