Glaciers in Argentina - level 3

Glaciers in Argentina - level 3

Caught on camera by hordes of tourists, giant chunks of Argentina's Perito Moreno glacier crumble and fall.

The 18-mile long river of ice, known as the White Giant, is one of the country's biggest tourist attractions. The glacier sheds ice roughly every four years and large numbers of locals and visitors have been coming here in recent days hoping to catch a glimpse of the spectacle.

According to local media, between 3,500 and 4,500 people were on the observation deck when the roof of an ice tunnel caved in this morning. The rupture reportedly occur after partial break-ups began on Tuesday, but it's been expected since February.

Argentina's glaciers park is home to more than 200 glaciers and is, according to the park's website, the largest continental ice extension in the world after Antarctica.

Difficult words: horde (a lot of people), chunk (a big piece), glacier (a big piece of ice that floats in water), crumble (to break off), shed (to let fall off), roughly (approximately, about), catch a glimpse (to see something for a short time), spectacle (a show), cave in (to fall down on itself), rupture (the breaking), occur (to happen), extension (the area with the ice).
