Lionel Messi announced his retirement from international football. This came after Argentina was beaten 4-2 by Chile in the Copa America final.
People regard Messi as the greatest player of his generation, and he won every trophy possible at club level with Barcelona. However, his only titles with his country were the Under-20 World Cup and the 2008 Olympics.
