Flying With Swans – level 2

Flying With Swans – level 2

Bewick’s swans migrate from the Russian Arctic to Britain every year. They travel 7,242 kilometers over 11 countries.

There is about a half of the swans than 20 years ago, but nobody knows exactly why. We know that people shoot the swans and that sometimes they hit power lines, but these threats are not as bad as to cause the death of so many birds. There has to be something else, or another piece of the puzzle.

One conservationist wants to find out, so she is going to fly a paramotor with the swans. This is no small feat, especially because there are no roads for the first 1,609 kilometers – no one will be able to assist her.

Difficult words: threat (something dangerous), paramotor (a motorized parachute), feat (an achievement – something difficult that you complete).
