Wave and policemen - level 3

Wave and policemen - level 3

As storms continue to batter English coastal areas, people in Portland in Dorset were out enjoying the high tides with some getting just a bit too close.

Passersby, prams and even policemen, who you think might now better, got soaked by the waves, which crashed over the sea wall.

The area near Chesil Beach has seen bad flooding in recent weeks with the army having been drafted in to start clearing a channel which has filled up with seawater and shingle.

Difficult words: batter (hit repeatedly), high tide (time when the sea reaches its highest level), draft in (ask to work somewhere), shingle (mass of small round pieces of stone).
