Tomatoes in Chile - level 2

Chile’s annual tomato fight took place recently. Thousands of people flocked to a city to throw around 50 tons of tomatoes at each other.

The music and the atmosphere were great. Although some people only wanted to watch, others threw tomatoes at them anyway.

Most people enjoyed the fight, but accidents sometimes occured. One man was hit and fell on the ground. He continued to throw, but his face began to hurt so it was better for him to leave.

A famous tomato festival in Spain inspired the tomato fight. There are similar events in Colombia, Costa Rica and the United States.
