Special activities in a car - level 3

Special activities in a car - level 3

We’ve all have those days when you’re in a rush and you don’t have time to put on your make up, have a shave or even brush your teeth – but that hasn’t stopped some drivers!

Yes, Britain’s roads are full of distracted drivers. Shocking CCTV footage shows motorists caught in the act of some strange and serious offences driving us round the bend!

Video released by Hampshire and Thames Valley police shows motorists brushing their teeth, reading and writing notes and one woman driving on the motorway using her rear-view mirror to top up her make-up.

All of this was caught over a five day crackdown on some of the UK’s busiest motorways. Almost 200 motorists were charged with offences, most of them using a phone, including two tractors, a taxi and 38 vans. Oh, must have been exhausting! Drivers charged face £100 fine and three points on their license.

Difficult words: rush (hurry), distracted (unable to do something well), offence (illegal act), drive someone around the bend (make someone angry or very frustrated), rear-view mirror (mirror with which you can see behind the car), crackdown (period of time when police checks people a lot), exhausting (very tiring), fine (money you have to pay for doing something illegal).
